I live on Wiradjuri country, on the outskirts of Albury, NSW, with my husband and two children. I work part-time as a Primary School Teacher and have been teaching in some capacity for the past 25 years.
My favourite pastimes are reading, walking, listening to music, and playing the piano. I love sharing books with my children and students and have been making up stories my whole life.
When my children were little, I had an idea for a book. It was an incredibly simple idea - a book that listed some of the places, outside of the bedroom, where books could be read.
A couple of years later, I put the idea into a manuscript, and in 2022, I submitted it to Little Steps Publishing. In 2023, my manuscript was sent to the incredible illustrator Angela Perrini, and she worked her magic. I couldn’t imagine the process of putting pictures to someone else’s words, and when I saw Angela’s interpretation of my manuscript, I was blown away. Her talent is mind boggling.
Books Are NOT Just For Bedtime is a reminder that books still belong in the public domain. Where will you read your copy?
I am now a Role Model for Books in Homes®.
Books in Homes® is a charitable foundation that provides books-of-choice to children living in remote, disadvantaged and low socio-economic circumstances, ensuring crucial early literacy engagement and the development of reading skills needed for lifelong achievement.
Role Models volunteer to inspire young readers on the Books in Homes® Program by either attending live Book Giving Assemblies or participating in virtual Book Giving Assemblies across Australia.
